The SRI Balanced Option is invested with investment managers who consider social and environmental factors when making investments and can involve avoiding industries considered to be the least socially and environmentally sustainable such as tobacco and gambling. AMP’s Responsible Investment Leaders Balanced Fund is used for the time being but the Trustee may also appoint other managers at any time.

An outcome of the ESG integration process is that the portfolio has a positive ESG bias. The requirement and the approach to integration is included in the Investment Management Agreements (IMA's) with external fund managers.

Exclusion note: The fund excludes companies where more than 20% of the value of the company comes from thermal coal mining, brown coal power generation, coal to gas or liquid production, oil sands production and pipeline infrastructure associated with oil sands production.

Inclusion note: Companies that demonstrate the most socially and environmentally sustainable performance outcomes in sectors such as renewable energy, health care, education and training, waste management and mass transport are included, if the investment case can be made.
