Overview

The UCA Australian Equities Portfolio is a managed ethical Australian equities growth portfolio which invests in a blend of Australian equities, listed property trusts, and cash and fixed interest securities.

Description

The investment management process that is applied to all funds is principally top-down or macro-economic. The first part of the process is to determine asset allocation. The top-down approach is also followed in sector and share selection. Analysis of macro-economic variables and policies leads to sector and share allocation. This approach is moderated by thematic and value overlays.

The Ethical Investment Policy contains a Negative Screen which restricts investment in securities with a material exposure to the following excluded activities: armaments, uranium, gambling, alcohol production, tobacco manufacturing, and pornography.

UCA Funds Management will also not invest in companies whose products, services and practices cause or perpetuate injustice and suffering, infringe human rights, cause unacceptable damage to the natural environment, have unacceptable environmental management practices, support oppressive regimes, or have unacceptable occupational health and safety practices.

A Positive Screen then directs at least 10% of the fund towards investments with a socially useful purpose. This includes: clean energy, recycling, employment, community services and health care.
